If you want the most automated, fuss-free, comfortable experience possible.

—Part 6 of 7:

#6. Failing to invest in remote automation

Sure, you can watch television without a remote control, but would you really want to? The same can be said about today’s swimming pools. A variety of remote control devices can make running your pool systems and activating various functions much, much easier.

Styles of remotes vary. There are base units that sit on a table or are mounted on a wall. Increasingly popular are handheld devices. Some are even waterproof so that you can use it while in your pool & spa.

Controls can automate functions such as pool cleaning, purification, filtration, heating, spa jets, water features, and spa and landscape lighting. Simple, very affordable systems control four or five functions. More sophisticated systems can handle many more, ranging from programmed timing of equipment activation and shut off, to color-themed lightshows. Automation systems also make it easier to manage certain functions in ways that cut energy use.
